External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar recently warned that “something big is coming,” suggesting significant geopolitical shifts ahead. He highlighted the potential for former U.S. President Donald Trump to reshape the global order with disruptive policies, emphasizing the importance of Quad engagement in this context.
In addition to his recent statements, Jaishankar has been actively engaging in international diplomacy. He delivered the keynote address at the 8th Indian Ocean Conference in Oman, underscoring India’s commitment to regional cooperation and stability. During his visit, he met with Oman’s Foreign Minister to review bilateral relations and launched a logo marking 70 years of diplomatic ties between the two nations.
Jaishankar also met with European ministers amid a thaw in U.S.-Russia relations, discussing the evolving geopolitical landscape and its implications for global security. He emphasized the need for coordinated policies among nations across the Indian Ocean to ensure security and stability, especially given the current geopolitical churn from West Asia to the Indo-Pacific.
Furthermore, Jaishankar engaged with Bangladesh’s Foreign Affairs Adviser, discussing bilateral ties and cooperation within the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC). These interactions reflect India’s proactive approach to strengthening regional partnerships and addressing emerging global challenges.
