Fraudsters swap QR codes outside madhya pradesh shops to steal money

A new method of online fraud has emerged in madhya pradesh where fraudsters replaced QR cods posted outside several shops and establishments during the night to divert the payment meant for shopkeepers into their own accounts

The fraud came to light when shopkeepers opened their stories in the morning and noticed that they were not receiving payments made by customers

The incident, caught on CCTV cameras , is now under police investigation

Many such incidents have happened in our country . One of these incidents is related to a medical store , where the owner Omwati Gupta averted a major fraud with her alertness

According to Gupta customer repoted that the QR code being scanned was displaying a different name ,’Chhotu tiwari’, instead of the store name

Acting quickly, Gupta changed the fraudulent QR code and checked his CCTV footage ,which showed three masked men changing the code late at night. Gupta’s action helped prevent further losses and other shopkeepers became alert

Meanwhile, the officer’s has urged businesses to regularly inspect their QR codes and report any suspicious activities
